We couldn’t be prouder to share that EcoBarista is now a certified B Corporation® (B Corp). That’s right, we’ve joined over 6000 businesses around the world committed to using business as a force for good. B Corp is the gold standard for social and environmental responsibility, and we couldn’t be more stoked to be part of this inspiring community.
At EcoBarista, we’re all about making the coffee industry better for everyone and the planet we all call home. Becoming a B Corp is a big step in our mission to create sustainable packaging products for coffee roasters and cafes that are kinder to Mother Earth.
What’s a B Corp?
B Corp is a certification for businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. It’s granted by B Lab, a nonprofit that evaluates companies based on their impact on workers, customers, suppliers, communities, and the environment.
Here’s what makes a B Corp unique:
- Rigorous Standards: B Corps meet high standards in areas like employee benefits, charitable giving, supply chain practices, and sustainability.
- Legal Accountability: B Corps legally consider the impact of their decisions on all stakeholders, not just shareholders.
- Transparency: B Corps publicly share their performance and impact assessments, which are reviewed by B Lab.
Being a B Corp means EcoBarista is independently verified by B Lab to ensure our business practices positively impact everyone from our workers to our community to the planet. This certification gives us a really solid framework for measuring our impact and a roadmap for continuous improvement when it comes to our environmental and social responsibility.
Maintaining B Corp Certification
Getting and keeping B Corp certification isn’t an easy or quick process. To keep our certification, we’ll update our impact assessment every three years, set ambitious goals for improvement, and track our progress over time. We’re certainly not perfect, but our commitment is that we’ll keep striving to do better. Here are some of our priorities:
- Providing more circular packaging solutions
- Offering more products with eco-friendly certifications
- Reducing the carbon intensity of our operations and increasing the use of renewables and offsets
If you have any questions about the B Corp process or are considering going through the accreditation process, reach out to us as we’d love to share knowledge and more about our experience.
