There’s no better time than Earth Day 2024 to remind ourselves of what we can do to be better friends to the planet. This year’s theme is ‘Planet over plastics’, and here are some tips on how you as a cafe or roaster can take action.

Sustainable swaps

Swap out plastic cups, lids, and straws for more sustainable, plant-based alternatives made from rapidly renewable materials.

Reuse, reduce, recaffeinate:

Encourage your customers to bring their reusable cups by offering incentives or discounts when they do. Some reusable cup brands we think are awesome are KeepCup and Frank Green

Get educated on plastics:

Get educated on the impact of single-use plastics on the environment and our health. Find out what else you can do as a business to reduce the use of plastics, and make a simple plan you can follow through on.

Align with inspiring organisations:

Align with other businesses and organisations that will help you get closer to meeting your sustainability goals. Some goodies to check out are:

    1. Reground
    2. Terracycle
    3. BCorp
    4. PlanetArk
    5. Your state’s environmental body
