Our key takeaway from Earth Month 2023

It’s Earth Day 2023 and while we think every day should be earth day, these landmark celebrations can be good for reminding us to keep the main thing the main thing. So this year, we’re taking the time to remind ourselves that the small steps in the right direction are important.

It’s Earth Day 2023 and while we think every day should be earth day, these landmark celebrations can be good for reminding us to keep the main thing the main thing.

So this year, we’re taking the time to remind ourselves that the small steps in the right direction are important.

The reality is, we’re not going to save the planet with one big gesture or going from 1-100 overnight.

It’s about starting with little yet significant actions that add up over time.

But, as business owners, where do we start and where do we find the time? Especially when there’s so much to do… all the time. Here are a few ideas on how to approach making some small changes to shape a more sustainable business.

1. Take a breath and say seeya to overwhelm

The good news is you can start small and you don’t have to do it all on your own.

2. Get your team on board

Get your team together (or at least, the passionate team members!) and come up with a list of 5-10 ways you could reduce your carbon footprint as a business.

3. Narrow it down to 3 things you’ll commit to doing

Decide on 3 things you’ll all implement. Write ‘em up on a board somewhere so everyone’s clear. Track your progress.

4. Celebrate the progress you’ve made

After 6 months of sticking to it, do a dance, throw a party, and feel good about the carbon emissions you’ve reduced in your business.

5. Do it all on repeat

Set a few more goals, stick to them, and make more progress. Then do it all on repeat.

Because starting somewhere and then sticking to it creates positive change.
